Hgh and steroids - Are the two one and same?
HGH: Human Growth Hormone, HgH, News
When talking about Hgh, another related term is Anabolic steroids, also known as anabolic-androgenic steroids or AAS. Since steroids are also a form of hormones, they are often confused with Hgh. However, the two are not same and one. Let us find out the difference between the two. Anabolics Steroids are a class of steroid hormones related to the hormone testosterone. They increase protein synthesis within cells, which results in the buildup of cellular tissue (anabolism), especially in muscles. Steroids are a popular term in the world of sports as they produce increases in muscle mass and physical strength, and are consequently used in sport and bodybuilding to enhance strength or physique.
However, where steroids can help an athlete to improve his performance, Hgh won’t help an athlete in that manner. Hgh can improve muscle mass and structure but it does not boost physical strength. Unlike steroids, growth hormone hasn’t been shown to increase weight-lifting ability. In the lab, it has shown a greater effect on muscle definition than muscle strength. And it doesn’t seem to help much with cardiovascular fitness, either.
Despite the fact that the benefit of Hgh is very little compared to the immediate benefits of steroids, Hgh is becoming more and more popular in the world of sports because of the many side-effects of steroids. Men who abuse steroids face the problems like reduced sperm count, impotency, development of breasts, shrinkage of testicles and pain while urinating. In women, Anabolic steroid side effects involve facial hair growth, deepened voice, breast reduction and menstrual cycle changes. The side effects which occur in both the sexes include acne, bloated appearance, rapid weight gain, clotting disorders, liver damage, premature heart attacks and strokes, Elevated cholesterol levels and weakened tendons.
Also, unlike anabolic steroids, Hgh does not show up on steroid tests and is extremely difficult to detect even in human blood. A big difference between Hgh and Anabolic steroids is the fact that Hgh is much easier to absorb without the need to inject.
This is the reason why Hgh is becoming more and more popular with sports persons. The drug does help in enhancement in athletic performance, though the effect is very slow and subtle. The best ones are able to recognize very slight improvements in their strength and agility that are however invisible to lab scientists or statistical tests and at the highest levels of sport, a tiny edge can make a big difference. Another way of benefiting from Hgh is mixing Hgh with other drugs—anti-aging doctors often prescribe growth hormone in combination with testosterone.
After all, if Hgh did not help at all why would all the major sports leagues and World Anti-Doping Agency ban the use of Hgh by athletes?
