Sun exposure leads to photoaging
Anti aging, Guide, HgH, News, Review, Tips
Even the most minimal unprotected sun exposure is damaging the skin. The sun will target your skin when you are walking to your car, hanging your arm out the car window, driving with your sunroof open, and so on : cumulatively over the years, these tiny doses of the sun exposure set the stage for wrinkles, discolorations, and – at worst – skin cancer. Ultraviolet radiation accounts for 90 percent of symptoms of premature skin aging. Ultraviolet radiation can result in:
* Lines and wrinkles
* Lentigos (brown freckles)
* Telangiectases (dilated capillaries)
* Black heads and white heads (senile comedones)
* Dry complexion
Ultraviolet radiation comes in 2 forms – UVA and UVB. Until relatively recently, it was believed that most of the changes in aging skin were the result of UVB damage, but now there is commanding evidence that implicates UVA as major pathophysiological factor in photoaging. UVA rays cause induction of the skin’s metalloproteinases. These enzymes stray from their normal stimulatory function for collagen reformation, instead causing disorganized collagen fibers, called solar scars. In repeating this process of imperfect skin rebuilding due to sun exposure, wrinkles result.
