Tom Bader, owner of College Pharmacy in Colorado Springs, has been alleged for mixing up human growth hormone, or HGH, and selling it to a number of customers so as to pocket in as much as $5.2 million. Bader has been charged by the Denver Post saying that he imported powdered HGH from China and then used small amounts to create liquid doses. This is just another case where HGH is being sold illegally to bodybuilders and other consumers using dubious prescriptions.
However, Bader’s lawyer, Chuck Torres, contends that the government has no proof his client was selling human growth hormone illegally. He also told the newspaper that pharmacists are not responsible for how doctors use the compounds they produce.
Torres also defended Bader saying that he was being used as a scapegoat by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, which with the backing of the major pharmaceutical industry, wants to push compounding pharmacies out of existence.
Bader’s case goes to court in the fall, the Post said.
